Tales from Pondicherry: The Legend of the Pondicherry Mermaid

In the distant past, Pondicherry’s fishermen told tales of a mystic mermaid who lived in the Bay of Bengal close to Puducherry’s coastline. According to the legend, the mermaid would enchant fishermen with her singing. Her seductive voice would lull everyone into a sound sleep, and when they awoke, their nets would be overflowing with fish.

“I’m also a certified and practicing expressive arts therapy practitioner. I quit my corporate job in data analytics a few years back to pursue my passion for art and self expression. As an artist I am influenced and inspired by abstract art, surrealism, macabre and absurdism, music (I have been a Hindustani classical music vocalist ), literature, folklore and Indian folk art forms as well, I love to tell stories through my art. I believe in the potential of arts to heal, connect and to tell stories that are untold and repressed, to challenge and create new narratives and possibilities.”
